Description

Delicious homemade pretzel bites that are easy to make and perfect for snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt (plus more for sprinkling)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until bubbly. Stir in flour and salt until a dough forms.
  2. Knead: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let rise in a warm area for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Shape Bites: Punch down the dough, divide into small portions, roll into ropes, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Boil: In a pot, bring water mixed with baking soda to a gentle boil. Boil pretzel bites for 30 seconds each, then remove with a slotted spoon.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 450°F. Place boiled bites on parchment-lined sheets, brush with melted butter, sprinkle with salt, and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding additional toppings like garlic salt or cheese powder before baking.
  • The dough can also be colored or flavored with food coloring and spices.
